7 hours at sea: father and son from Gaza swam from Turkey to Greece

Summary

A father and son from Khan Younis in Gaza swam 8 kilometres across the Aegean Sea in darkness, crossing from Turkey to Greece equipped only with fins and floats. They had reached Egypt for medical treatment and moved on to Turkey. A migrant-monitoring organisation helped locate them on the island of Kos after they had hidden out of fear of the authorities.
