Spain's Minister for Equality Ana Redondo plans to ask the judiciary to bar repeat domestic violence offenders from substituting prison sentences with community service. The move comes as five of the 13 femicide victims recorded so far this year had previously filed complaints against their partners or ex-partners. Redondo argues that community work should not serve as an alternative penalty for habitual abusers.
