In Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, a Christian Village Opens Its Doors to Displaced Shia Families
Liban : dans la Bekaa, un village chrétien refuge pour les déplacés chiites
Summary
Since March 2, Israeli airstrikes have repeatedly targeted the Baalbek region in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, a Hezbollah stronghold, forcing many Shia residents to flee. Some of them have found shelter in the nearby Christian village of Deir al-Ahmar, which overlooks the Bekaa plain about 100 kilometres northeast of Beirut. The cross-community solidarity on display there offers a rare glimpse of coexistence amid the ongoing conflict.
